Over the past 63 years Ed has lived and worked in Cork, Dublin, Limerick, London, Tarbert Argyle, Scotland, Namibe, and Lubango (Angola West Africa.) During his varied career he has been involved in Construction: Building and Civil Engineering: Publishing: Representing Employer Bodies: Training & Development: Human Resource Management: and Management Consulting. He has travelled widely in Europe, Canada, USA, and the Far East. He is a former Director of the Limerick Chamber of Commerce and Chair of the Mid West Irish Management Institute.
Throughout this career, poetry was a constant presence in Ed’s life. What began as a few verses written in quiet moments grew into a lifelong practice of capturing love, memory, humour and the everyday miracles of living. In his later years, he gathered many of these works into a published collection, A Collection of Poems: From Boy to Man, which serves as both a reflection on his own journey and a memento for his siblings, children, grandchildren and friends.
Today, surrounded by a very large family that now spans several generations, Ed continues to write. His focus is on bespoke poems that celebrate life’s occasions, from births and weddings to anniversaries, retirements and remembrance.
For Ed, poetry is more than a craft. It is a way of noticing, of marking what matters, and of giving voice to feelings that deserve to be cherished and shared.
As he often reflects: Life is a privilege, live it to the full. Always remember to love, laugh, sing and dance as if you could, and treasure the words that help carry you through.
